A view across the pass through our bedroom windows. Cascade, Colorado, circa 1986. The little stone church is clearly visible through the glass door on the left. There are scores of other houses on that side of the canyon, but only one really sticks out of the trees in most views. Judging from the thin layer of snow on the deck railing, this wasn't more than an inch of fresh powder. Its pretty early in the day, so none of the magic has melted yet. This is the gorgeous, romantic side of winter in the mountains. It makes you forget about the wind and the mud.
